Another church torched in Tanzania

Exactly a week after three churches were burned in Tanzania’s north-western Kagera region, a fourth church was set ablaze yesterday (29 September).

This is the third time the church has been attacked in the last two years, said a local church leader. The local Muslim community had ordered the Christians to evacuate the church building because they were disturbed by their singing.

Despite the fact that the church leaders had already informed local authorities of the threats from local Muslims, when a senior church leader told the Kagera regional commissioner what had happened, he replied only that he did not know who was responsible and would investigate the incident.
